The future of remote work: An analysis of 2,000 tasks, 800 jobs, and 9 countries

อัพเดทวันที่ 2 มีนาคม 2020 เข้าดู ครั้ง

Whether it’s due to dropping the commute, working in your own space or being able to fit a work-out into your lunchbreak, lockdown showed people across the UK the benefits of a better work-life balance. And it’s not just about the practical benefits, having a reputation as a flexible employer can help you attract and keep talented staff. The International Workplace Group (IWG) found that an incredible 80% of people would consider turning down a job that didn’t offer flexible work. The topic of remote work is producing a lot of attention — and research. There are many reports that tout the benefits of remote work from organizations like OwlLabs and Buffer, but privately-sourced data is in danger of biased results.

Let’s take a look at the benefits of remote work for both employees and employers. That’s why one of the best ways to counter the disadvantages of remote working is to implement hybrid work, in which most employees work remotely part of the time, but they still use the office occasionally. There are now many tried-and-trusted hybrid work models that companies can employ, according to their needs and goals.

For your job search:

According to one survey from Owl Labs, around 70% of full-time employees in the U.S are working from home during the current Covid-19 pandemic. What is more, even after the pandemic is over, half of them will seek jobs that offer remote work, with 23% of them being willing to take a pay cut over 10% if they can work remotely some of the time. However, as the dangers of gathering in enclosed spaces became increasingly apparent, employees gradually understood the merits of working from the relative safety of home. Employers now understand the benefits of having their staff operating remotely as many see productivity increase or expenses fall.

Over the past few years, remote working has become a way of life for many of us. And since the Covid-19 crisis, it has become the ‘new normal’ for many employees. One day people were working in their offices, the next they were connecting their laptops from home, instant messaging colleagues on Slack, and planning schedules on Trello.

More freedom and autonomy

If you outsource to freelancers there’s no need to provide expensive tech equipment as many work at home and already have their own office equipment. There can be pitfalls to not having enough work (feeling a lack of motivation) to having too much work (feeling overwhelmed). While working in an office alongside others can give you the chance to get how companies benefit when employees work remotely on top of your workload, being alone at home can make it much harder. While there are those who believe the pandemic has caused nothing but chaos and destruction, I believe that from within chaos and destruction, the strong will persevere and create a better tomorrow. No one’s internet connection is completely stable at every possible second.
